New Course: Peptide Therapy & Biologicals for the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) Program of
National University of Medical Sciences (USA)
Instructor: Professor Shawn Pourgol, MBA, DC, DO, DN, PhD
Peptides and biological supplements have become a major focus of modern integrative health, and I have been using them personally for many years. This month, I follow a nootropic protocol with Semax, a peptide created first in Russia, as the foundation, supporting cognitive performance and neuroprotection. My primary interest is in long-term brain health, including strategies aimed at reducing the risk of neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzhimer’s. Semax supports this by enhancing brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), modulating neurotransmitters, improving cerebral blood flow, and reducing inflammation and oxidative stress.
The use of peptides continues to grow rapidly, with millions of individuals in the United States already incorporating them into their health routines. This trend is expected to expand further as regulatory perspectives evolve and awareness increases. Just last month Robert F. Kennedy ordered FDA to remove the ban from 14 peptides.
This comprehensive course will provide in-depth education on peptide therapy and a wide range of biological supplements, including nootropics, geroprotectors, lipotropics, and ergogenic aids. These compounds are increasingly used to support health optimization, longevity, weight management, cognitive performance, and athletic function.
Students will gain a thorough understanding of peptide mechanisms, indications, benefits, potential side effects, dosing strategies, cycling, stacking, and professional considerations for recommending and dispensing these biological therapies.
A strong emphasis will also be placed on developing niche clinical services in areas such as anti-aging, weight management, performance enhancement, sleep optimization, and sexual health.
Drawing from extensive personal and clinical experience with a wide range of peptides and biological compounds, I will also share practical guidance on sourcing, cost-effective purchasing, and proper storage.
Peptide-based therapies are poised to play a significant role in the future of healthcare across the United States, Canada, and globally. This course is designed to position our students at the forefront of this rapidly evolving field.
