Manual Osteopathic Education in the United States

Yesterday marked the second day of practical classes at the new waterfront campus of National University of Medical Sciences – USA in Bonita Springs, Florida.

We founded National University of Medical Sciences – USA in 2016 as an online institution offering health-related degree programs. At the time, several lawyers told us it would be impossible for a Canadian to own a university in the United States, but we found a way to make it happen. Many also claimed that the American Osteopathic Association would never allow manual osteopathy to be taught here, fearing opposition from the 150,000 osteopathic physicians. Yet, we moved forward, establishing the university in 2016. Now, eight years later, in 2024 we’ve opened our first physical campus in Florida, currently offering continuing education programs.

With over 300 million people in the United States but fewer than 2,000 manual osteopaths (most of whom are our students), We’ve long believed in the need to expand access to effective chronic pain management here. We are now fully focused on growing osteopathy and naprapathy across the U.S. as we need more osteopathic manual practitioners and naprapaths here.
