Program Name Change

One of the primary goals of the national Indigenous Health Authority, which oversees the licensing of tribal health practitioners, is to support the growth of Indigenous medicine across the United States so that more Americans can benefit from this natural approach to healthcare.

At present, the only doctoral-level program in Indigenous Medicine is offered by National University of Medical Sciences (USA), with the inaugural class scheduled to begin in September 2026.

Following the recommendation of the Indigenous Health Authority, we have updated the name of the program to better reflect its vision and scope.

Effective immediately, the program (Doctor of Indigenous Health Sciences) will be known as:

Doctor of Integrated Indigenous Medicine (DIIM)
